Kolja Malik writes his first screenplay at the age of eleven. In his teens he receives various prizes for young film makers. After a long stay abroad which he spends crossing a desert and assisting a doctor in southern India, he starts working as a video artist for the theater in Aachen, Germany. During that time he shoots the no-budget feature film UND AM ENDE SIND ALLE ALLEIN with members of the theater company. The film premieres in 2015 at Festival of German Film Ludwigshafen.
In 2018 the 30 minutes short film STORKOW KALIFORNIA, shot during Malik’s studies at Filmakademie Baden-Wurttemberg, opens the section Perspektive deutsches Kino at the 68th Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale) and is part of the Short Film Corner at the Festival de Cannes 2018.
At the moment, Malik is editing his feature film LASVEGAS (shot in Berlin, Los Angeles, Hildesheim and Las Vegas).
